Obituary

William A. “Bill” Romanoff, age 80. Respected attorney and lifelong Chicagoan; beloved and adoring husband of Myrna Lotsoff Romanoff; loving father of Marla Romanoff (the late David) Kitzmann, Rob (Randee) Romanoff and Heidi (David) Reynolds and step-father of Beth (Mark) Polinsky; proud grandfather of Alex Kitzmann, Shira, Dena and Eliezer Romanoff, Tristan, Kennedy and Bailey Reynolds and Alexa, Jenna and Blair Polinsky; dear brother of Melvyn (Marsha) Romanoff; devoted son of the late Reuben and Peggy Romanoff; longtime member of the Great Vest Side Club, B’nai Brith Sports Lodge, Chicago Bar Association and Loop Synagogue. Chapel service today, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Bill was a true gentleman. He was one of the most respected attorneys in the property tax practice. When I first met him, he was well known as one of the best, and I was just learning the practice and struggling to establish myself. At the time, the practice was insular and not interested in new guys coming into the field. From the beginning, Bill treated me with complete respect and like I belonged.

At a time when I was very new to becoming active in our practice and I didn’t think I knew anything, he always made me feel like I was the most special one in the room. I believe that he had a way of making everyone feel as if they were the most special.

He made me feel better than I was, and I became better because of him. I always felt he raised the quality of everyone he was around.

He was, and always will be, one of the truly great guys. I will miss him greatly.
